RAFAŁ MILACH

RAFAL MILACH (born 1978 in Gliwice, Poland) – visual artist, photographer, author of photographic books. His work focuses on topics related to transformation in the former Soviet bloc. He is a lecturer at the ITF Institute of Creative Photography at the University of Silesia in Opava, Czech Republic and Katowice Film School at the University of Silesia, Poland. His award-winning photo books include The Winners, 7 Rooms and The First March of Gentlemen. Rafał Milach has received scholarships from the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the Magnum Foundation and the European Cultural Foundation. Finalist of the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Award 2018 and winner of the World Press Photo contest. Co-founder of the Sputnik Photos collective. His works have been exhibited extensively around the world and can be found in the collections of MoMA Warsaw, CCA’s Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, the ING Polish Art Foundation, the Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts (Japan) and the Brandts Museum in Odense. (Denmark). In 2018 he joined the Magnum Photos agency as a nominee member.

ANIA NAŁĘCKA

ANIA NALECKA-MILACH born in 1977, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Faculty of Typography and Graphics in 2002, is a book designer (aka Tapir Book Design) and collaborator of the Sputnik Photos collective. He has designed numerous critically acclaimed photo albums, which have received many of the most prestigious awards such as the Photobook / Aperture Foundation Photobook Award (USA / France 2012, 2013 2014 and 2016) and the POYi The Best Photography Book Award (first prize, USA 2012, 2014). She also lectures and offers seminars on photo book design. In collaboration with her husband and photographer Rafał Milach, she has co-curated international exhibitions in places such as the FOAM Museum (Amsterdam, Netherlands). PHOTOEspaña (Madrid, Spain) and Photomonth in Krakow (Poland).

Final Exhibition

The selected authors, through various phases of the residency period, produced a body of work that was exhibited at the end of August 2019 during the 25 edition of the Lessinia Film Festival in Bosco Chiesanuova.
